The race is restricted to serving or retired Military Amateur Riders. Ownership of the horses in the race is also limited to serving or ex-serving members of the armed forces. The race was first run in 1841 and the 150th running took place in 2013. Walking With The Wounded

Our official Charity Partner

This year our official charity partner is Walking With The Wounded. Established in 2010, they support a pathway for vulnerable veterans to re-integrate back into society and sustain their independence. The charity focuses on employability, mental health and early intervention services to provide social inclusion, independence and to help break the cycle of veterans being a disproportionately high cohort within homeless, police custody, unemployment and mental health statistics. The outcome the charity seeks to achieve for the veterans they support is sustainable employment, and independence for them and their families. The equivalent of £1 from each ticket will be donated to WWTW by Sandown Park.
