The Racecourse Association (RCA), has announced the winning racecourses in each category of the 2015 Racecourse Groundstaff Awards. The annual Awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of racecourse Groundstaff teams across the country who maintain and develop the racing surface.
Racecourses were judged in three categories, Jump, Flat and Dual Purpose with Huntingdon, York and Sandown Park announced as the winners in their respective categories. One of these racecourse teams will be crowned overall Racecourse Groundstaff Champions for 2015 at the RCA Showcase Awards on Thursday 12 November.
Andrew Cooper, Head of Racing and Clerk of the Course at Sandown Park Racecourses said, “Sandown Park last won this Award in 2004, and success this year is a reward for all the hard work put in by the team here over the last twelve months, ably led by Craig Williamson. It is also a reflection of the investment put into the course infrastructure here in the same period – including a new Winners’ Enclosure, Horsewalk, parade ring surface, drainage and running rail. I am extremely proud of Craig and the team and am delighted that they have been recognised in this way.”
Caroline Davies, RCA Racecourse Services Director commented, ‘The hard work and dedication of the Groundstaff Teams at racecourses across Britain is exceptional, and the RCA is delighted to recognise this via the Racecourse Groundstaff Awards. It is with great pleasure that we announce Huntingdon, Sandown Park and York as the winners of the 2015 Racecourse Groundstaff Awards and look forward to the announcement of the overall Champion at the RCA Showcase & Awards in November. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Pitchcare and Watt Fences for their continued support of these awards’
